How do broadband and phone deals work?
A broadband and phone deal is a package that combines two services: a broadband connection and a landline. You’ll have a choice of broadband speed and a choice of home phone service, and both will appear on the same bill.
Bundling the two together can also work out at a cheaper monthly rate. It’s important to remember that most broadband and phone bundles come on a contract which ties you to those services for a set amount of time. Virgin Media has a number of broadband and phone deals available.
Our broadband packages range from M100 Fibre Broadband (108Mbps average download speed) all the way up to Gig1 Fibre Broadband (1,130Mbps average download speed).
You’ll get a phone line too, which can include unlimited calls to UK landlines, mobile networks and international landlines depending on the plan you choose. Check out our full list of call plans above.
What’s the best broadband and phone deal for me?
When deciding on the best broadband and phone deal, you should consider several factors.
Things to consider in a broadband deal:
Speed - Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second (Mbps). Generally speaking, the faster the speed, the more you can do online at the same time.
Our broadband packages range from M50, which has an average download speed of 54Mbps, to our Gig1 package, which has an average download speed of 1,130Mbps. Check out the packages themselves to see which is best suited to your household’s needs. Or, learn more about our broadband speeds.
Availability – Before you decide on a broadband and telephone deal, it’s important to know what services you can get in your area. Use our broadband postcode checker to see which of our broadband bundles are available where you live.
Contract length – Most of our minimum term contract lengths are for 18 months, but we have some other options too, including a more flexible 30-day rolling contract.
Price – Review your daily internet usage before comparing deals to ensure you find a bundle that’s best suited for you. Then double-check the monthly package price, including any set up fees in your first bill, as well as understanding what you could be paying after any promotional periods end.
Download limits – Most broadband packages are unlimited these days, so there’s no cap on how much you can download or upload. Certain policies such as fair usage limits, traffic management and speed throttling can be used to slow broadband at certain points, to ensure all users in your area are getting a fair connection.

Gifts and incentives – A voucher, gift card, cashback, a period of reduced cost or a speed upgrade can sweeten the right broadband and phone deal and give you better value for money. Bundles- It’s worth checking what else you can bundle with your broadband and phone deal so you can take advantage of discounted rates and more manageable bills. Equipment– When signing up to a new service or switching providers, it’s important to consider that new equipment might need to be installed, such as a new WiFi hub or wiring. You may be required to pay an installation fee, delivery fee or other set up costs to get started.
Things to consider in a landline deal:
Inclusive calls and minutes – Calling your loved ones shouldn’t cost a fortune. Get a landline tariff that comes with the right, inclusive (evening, weekend or anytime) calls so that picking up the receiver won’t be more expensive than it has to be.

Making mobile calls – If you're likely to make calls to mobile phones you might want to ignore our basic Talk Weekends plan in favour of all our others. They offer inclusive calls to all UK mobile numbers, not just our own Virgin Mobile, so your monthly cost doesn't go up after a catch-up with a friend.
Paid-for add-ons – Having the option to customise your landline package at an extra cost is always a bonus. Whether you want privacy options, such as anonymous caller reject or an option to manage incoming calls, such as call divert, free call back or call waiting, home phone extras will do the trick.
International calls – Taking a more affordable home phone plan and buying add-ons, such as Talk International, is a one way to call overseas. But if you have a friend or family member living abroad, you probably want a landline tariff that’ll let you call international landlines more often (Talk More International Anytime) and purchase overseas calls to mobiles too (Talk Extra International add-on).
Free calls to customer support – Every so often you might need to make calls to the customer service team. Our customers can dial 150 from their landline for free and our team will be on hand to help.
Contacting service numbers – Every 30 days, you can use up to 1,000 minutes (or 150 calls) to phone 0845 – and other 08 numbers, depending on your Talk plan.
Can I get a broadband and mobile bundle?
Yes. There are two ways you can get a mobile phone tariff with your broadband:
- Choose a broadband and SIM only deal – when you’ve selected your package, you’ll be asked how much data you’d like on your mobile phone plan.
- Purchase your broadband, phone, TV and mobile at once - when you choose one of our Volt bundles you get the best of both Virgin Media and O2. With benefits like double data on your sim, a broadband speed boost and free roaming with O2’s Travel Inclusive zone.
FAQs
Yes, our broadband and phone bundles come with line rental included as standard. This means that you’ll pay nothing extra for a telephone line as the monthly cost is already covered within your package.
If you were only interested in having an internet connection, however, you can opt for one of our broadband only deals. This would exclude line rental and other optional add-ons like digital TV.
It’s very easy to switch broadband providers. If you’re a new customer switching to a broadband and phone deal, you’ll need to:
- Use our broadband postcode checker to see which Virgin Media services are available at your address. Then select one of the packages on offer.
- Once you’ve chosen the best deal for you, enter your details to complete your order. We’ll then get things set up on our side so we can get your property connected as soon as possible.
- If you haven’t already, make sure you cancel your services with your current provider. It’s best to leave your existing provider once you’re out of your initial contracted period to avoid any additional charges.
If you’re already with us and want to upgrade from broadband only to a broadband and phone deal, the process is very simple. Dial 150 free on your Virgin Media landline or mobile and we’ll talk you through the rest.
Unless you’re moving to a new home outside your current area code, you can keep the same number on your home phone. We’ll ask you if you’d like to keep it when:
- You’re setting up your QuickStart kit – your home phone number should be back in action, up to 10 days after you’ve installed and activated your own Virgin Media services.
- Our technician is installing your new phone service – the next day, they’ll check your number successfully transferred to our network.
If your number hasn’t switched to Virgin Media within 24 hours of your activation date – dial 150 free on your Virgin Media landline or mobile for more information, as you may be due compensation.
Yes, you can get unlimited calls with your landline package. At Virgin Media, your inclusive (evening, weekend or anytime) calls are unlimited on every Talk plan.
For example, of the 5 plans, Talk More Anytime gives you unlimited calls 24/7 to UK landline (01, 02, 03) numbers, UK mobiles, and 0870 and 0845 numbers.
